EUROPEAN UNION COMMISSION

Paula Abbatiello
President
Welcome Comissioners,

My name is Paula Abbatiello García, and I am honored to serve as your President for the European Union Committee. I am 16 years old, in 11th grade, and very passionate about Model United Nations. I enjoy playing volleyball, singing, traveling, and spending time with my friends. Although I’m still deciding what to study in the future, I’m interested in careers related to communication or psychology, as I enjoy listening to and helping others.
This will be my third MUN experience, as I have been actively participating since 9th grade, when I discovered how much I truly enjoyed Model United Nations and decided to become a delegate from the very beginning. The two conferences I have participated in have been incredible learning experiences where I have always shown dedication, effort, and responsibility. I am very excited for this upcoming conference, as my vice-president Ivanna López and I will have the privilege of leading our own committee. The European Union Committee focuses on promoting cooperation among European countries by addressing political, economic, social, and security-related issues. Its main purpose is to find collective solutions to current challenges such as economic stability, migration, human rights, security, and international cooperation within Europe and beyond.
Once again, I am very excited to work with all of you in the EU Committee. I expect my commissioners to be respectful, open-minded, well-prepared, and actively engaged throughout the sessions. I look forward to collaborating with commissioners who are willing to debate, negotiate, and contribute innovative solutions. Please remember that the background guide should not be your only source of information; extended research and investigation are essential for a successful committee experience. I am confident that, together, we will create a dynamic and enriching committee. If you have any questions or doubts, please do not hesitate to contact me. paula.abatiello@ciac.edu.mx
Best of luck, and I look forward to seeing you soon, delegates!

Ivanna Lopez
Vice-President
Welcome Commissioners,

My name is Ivanna Lopez, and I am honored to be Vice President in the European Commission for CancunMUN 2026. I am 16 years old and a junior in high school at the International American School of Cancun. I enjoy playing volleyball and spending time with my friends and family. Once I graduate I would like to study corporate law in Europe.
This conference will be my fourth MUN experience, I have participated two times as a delegate in CancunMUN, once in UNODC and UNHRC, I've also had the opportunity to participate in LaSalleMUN in the Trusteeship Council, and now I will be a Co-Chair for the European Commission. As for the committee, the purpose of the European Commission is to promote the well being and security of its citizens while also addressing all of the problems and crises that the citizens of each state face. This can be national, problems affecting the members of the EU, or international, affecting countries not part of the EU.

As for you, we expect every commissioner to be respectful to other people and to follow all of the procedures forming part in this commission. Make sure to look at the guide; just keep in mind it does not contain everything and you will have to do your own research. Make sure to study well, investigate and overall have a good experience in MUN.I look forward to seeing all of you in person. If you have any doubts or questions feel free to contact me at ivanna.lopez@ciac.edu.mx
I look forward to seeing you. Good luck!
