ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL

Fernanda Yañez
Chair
Dear Delegates,
My name is Fernanda Yañez, and I am thrilled to be your Chair in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in this year's conference. I am 16 years old, and I am currently a junior at the International American School of Cancun. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, watching movies and series, reading, and hanging out with my friends. Once I graduate, I would like to study film or design in Madrid.
This would be my third experience in a MUN conference. I had experience as both a page and a delegate in CancunMUN. I am enthusiastic to be part of this conference. This committee interests me because it covers topics like education, economic labor, gender equality, trade, poverty, and sustainable cities, and I believe these are crucial topics that should be discussed.
As I mentioned before, I am excited about having the opportunity to be your Chair, and I do not expect less than respectful and enthusiastic delegates to create a professional, diplomatic, and positive environment in the committee. I look forward to getting to know you all and working with all of you. Remember that your background guide is not your only source of information; be prepared. Please do not hesitate to contact me at fernanda.yanez@ciac.edu.mx if you have any doubts. Good luck, delegates!

Welcome Delegates,
My name is Kenza Fournier, and I am honored to be your Co-Chair in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) . I am 17 years old and currently a junior at the International American School of Cancun. In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, swimming and watching movies. When I graduate, I haven't exactly decided what to study, but would love to work in either fashion business or law.
This will be my second MUN experience. I have been a delegate once to WHO in CancunMUN. I am beyond excited to be your Co-Chair and be a part of ECOSOC, a committee dedicated to promoting international cooperation on economic, social and development issues. I consider that it is essential to tackle these challenges, as they directly affect people’s quality of life and help build a more just and sustainable world.
I am truly looking forward to working with all of you. I expect all of my delegates to act with respect, professionalism, and a strong level of preparedness during committee sessions. Please remember that the background guide is only intended as an introduction, and you are encouraged to conduct in-depth research beyond it.
